A History of Excellence
1944 George Reed and wife, Rose, begin paving driveways in the greater Stanislaus County area. This husband and wife business later became George Reed, Inc.
Today George Reed, Inc. performs construction projects from Merced to Sacramento and from the Central Valley to the summits of the Sierra.

Wendell Reed joins George Reed, Inc. on a full-time basis with his father George.
Today Third and fourth generations of the Reed family continue the company philosophy. |
1960 Beerman & Jones Company is acquired along with Tuolumne Transit Mix. This is the origin of the Sonora Division.
Today George Reed, Inc. can supply both raw aggregates such as rock, concrete, and asphalt, as well as bid and build projects. |
Tuolumne/Calaveras Transit Mix concrete provides concrete for the most demanding applications. Here, our concrete is being placed on Caltrans Bridges, Sonora, CA. |

1966 Neilsen's Sand and Gravel Company is acquired. This is now known as Tuolumne/Calaveras Transit Mix.
Today The San Andreas plant is a high volumne computer-controlled batch plant. |
1985 Munn & Perkins plant and surrounding ranch lands acquired; key material processing plant provides materials to the public and George Reed's Modesto Construction Division.
Today Munn & Perkins, and the Modesto Division tackle large and small roadway reconstruction. Reed's expertise satisfies even the most demanding client's specifications. |

1993 Claude C. Wood Company is acquired. This is the origin of Reed's Lodi Division.
Today Lodi Division performs multi-million dollar public and private contracts. On-going project include the Bradshaw Road Widening in Sacramento. |
2007 Blasingame property on J59 near Merced is acquired.
Today George Reed, Inc. has upgraded the former Blasingame site with new crushing and aggregate producing equipment. |
